This is the OG of Italian cuisine mavens and there is a reason. I always love a book that reviews the essentials and also stretches those limits with exciting ideas. I went to Venice in 1999 with my mother to visit Marcella and she made us lunch. In the land of (what I thought was only) pasta and tomatoes, she handed me a buttered slab of bread with thick sardine filets, sea salt and lemon. One bite changed my life. I had never had anything like it. I grew up with my mom cooking from this book. So good. Recipes on point.
