11 ounces (about 38 pieces) square caramels
11/2 cups whole @Fishernutsbrand almonds, chopped
1 large egg
Two sheets frozen puff pastry (9×9 inches each)
1. In a small pan, over low heat, melt caramels with 2 tablespoons water until a smooth sauce . Stir sauce, hot, into medium bowl with nuts & mix. Cool 5-10 minutes.
2. Cut each puff pastry piece into 12 even squares. Put a generous spoonful of the filling in center of each square. Brush with egg to seal edges. Don’t be afraid to mold the filling & don’t be afraid to pull on pastry dough as you fold over into triangular “turnovers”. (Note: If filling too firm to mold, microwave 30 seconds.) Place puffs on a greased baking sheet. Brush outside with egg. Bake 375F 20-25 minutes. Nice if filling oozes!
