I can remember my mother calling Nach Waxman (who runs this great bookstore) when I was a kid to ask how many copies of her books had sold and if they were selling at all! The bookshop is dedicated entirely to cookbooks, old and new, and I never leave there without wanting to eat afterwards. They have a cool out-of-print library and a staff that will research any topic with you. I asked for books about yeast and umami one day and got about 15 books on each topic, including some that were out of print. There’s something sacred about reasearching and exploring a topic the old school way that makes getting information and learning more satisfying to me. This store has a way of celebrating the brand new and reminding you of the importance of the old books at the same time. Love that.
