    Ferrara Bakery

    May 16, 2013 / by Alex Guarnaschelli / Leave a Comment

    195 Grand Street NYC

They have an oven in the back that is older than my grandmother (and just as impressive looking). I think that old oven that the Sessa family works so hard to maintain positively touches every pastry it bakes. The Sfogliatella and many other pastries represent a dying art of Italian pastries that extends beyond the cannoli. Their cookie display alone sends me into a tizzy. I first went here when I was about 6 years old and had a hot chocolate and some cookies with my parents. I can sit there today and get the same feeling. Priceless. And delicious. Any place selling blocks of Torrone on the way out is always going to be top notch for me. I think their pastries only keep getting better….
